Celebrity Apprentice Episode 7

This week’s task was simple and objective: raise the most money selling carriage rides in central park. Once again, the teams were shuffled a bit. The new team Hydra consisted of Piers Morgan, Omarosa, Lennox Lewis, and Carol Alt. Team Empressario members were Marilu Henner, Tito Ortiz, Trace Atkins, and Stephen Baldwin. What should have been a straight forward task, ended up causing one of be biggest disputes in Apprentice history.
Piers was project manager for Team Hydra, and he said that his strategy was: just raise as much money as possible. Should they fail the task, he would bring in the people who sold the least. They started by calling their contacts to pre-sale rides at huge prices. Piers thought that Omarosa may be at somewhat of a disadvantage because she might not have had as many high-profile contacts as the rest of her team. Nonetheless, everyone persevered. As secretary, Omarosa misspelled Piers’ name as “Pier” and was immediately fired by Piers. Defiantly, Omarosa decides that she will not leave the team, and from this point on she and Piers went head to head by arguing continuously.
Concurrently, Trace Atkins led team Empressario beautifully without ANY contention. There was total harmony. Similar to Hydra, they focused on getting their wealthy friends to come donate. Stephen got Billy Baldwin to come to help with sales while Tito got Janna Jamerson to donate $1,000 for a ride.
The Results: Empresario made $29,673 while Hydra raised an impressive $35,184 despite their bickering. Thus, team Hydra won and Donald had to decide who to fire from Empressario. Trump was stumped. As an Apprentice first, Donald did not fire anyone.
Classic Ethical Question: Does the end justify the means? After thinking about this episode, I had to ask myself: did Omarosa take it too far?
Omarosa was concerned with one thing only: survival. She purposefully tore down Piers to do it. Her insults were personal and mean-spirited, much liked Piers comments in preceding episodes. Although Piers rose over $60,000 for his charity, but his despicable fighting with Omarosa overshadowed his win. Contrary to what some people believe, they both seem talented, but they act shamefully and unprofessional. Omarosa did cross the line, and so has Piers on numerous occasions, and neither one should stay. I was not entertained, and the only business lesson from this episode I really observed was how not to act, especially while on camera.
